Our approach

Caring for the environment is our priority. Our hot foil blocking process reduces wastage.

Hot foil blocking produces the best metallic finish on the market, but it also reduces the use of our planet's natural resources too!

Minimising the effect on the environment

We are Zero 2 Landfill certified by BPIF and Prismm Environmental at all our foiling sites

A foil-blocked product is compostable - there is no un-recyclable polyester on the finished product.

All foil waste is recycled and Blockfoil holds an ISO 14001 Certification.

The metal on the foiled product is aluminium, the most abundant element in the earth's crust and is well-tolerated by plants and animals. It is a naturally occurring substance.

Iso 14001

Blockfoil is serious about the growing concerns about protecting the environment.

The Blockfoil Group is proud to hold ISO 14001 certification for all three of their trade foiling sites.

ISO 14001 is a worldwide agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system (EMS). It helps companies improve their environmental performance through efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

Since the start of the ISO program, Blockfoil has slowly transferred waste disposal from landfill sites and now 100% of our waste is re-pulped, composted or recycled.

Explore our Zero to Landfill scheme

The Zero Foil 2 Landfill scheme is new and the aim is to re-direct wasted foil produce away from landfill sites straight to the recycling centre. The scheme comes hot on the heels of the Zero Labels 2 Landfill scheme which has already diverted over 42,000 tonnes of label waste away from landfill. Blockfoil is one of the first companies in the country to receive the new accreditation.

Our foil promise

Everything is recycled after use. The foil wastage is packed into tight ‘brick-like’ blocks and taken away, the empty cardboard foil reel is recycled, as is the box the foil arrives at Blockfoil in.

Foil Compaction & Recycling

Our foil compactors crush the wastage foil into ‘brick-like’ blocks that are then sent away for recycling. No waste foil goes to landfill.
